I just loved it and although it is sequel 3 it is still lot of fun. I can't stop laughing when I see it. I like it because they are disrespectful and make fun of fairy tales... Go for it it is just DreamWorks at their best, dialogues are witty and poor Merlin even the old guy is made fun of... Finally at the end you have the moral lesson, because we are in fairy tales land!!!
Don't know if some of you read Bruno Bettelheim's The Uses of Enchantment: The Meaning and Importance of Fairy Tales... it is very Freudian but in a nutshell he advocates that you should read the old versions of fairy tales because they give clues to children as what to expect from the outside world as they grow older and how they can handle difficulties in life. Since now most of the kids are brought up on Walt Disney's versions that are much softer than the original stories, will these kids be ready for our world? At the end of his life Bettelheim was depressed and committed suicide... does that put into question his work I do not know!!!! But if you are parents and have young kids you should read his book and make up your own opinion...
Whatever, Schrek 3 is great

I read this back in grad school and have sort of cast my mind back to it every now and then... Think I'll read it again this summer while I'm home. Didn't realize other people had read this work!
Have you ever read From the Beast to the Blonde by Warner? Good stuff.

Shrek 1 was amazing, Shrek 2 was good, but Shrek 3 is a 'OK -', especially after seeing the first 2.
The characters are no longer new and surprising, and the word plays are a little old.

I kept getting distracted by Justin Timberlake as the voice of Arthur. This movie had no plot, no punchlines, no new exciting characters. Thanks goodness I used my free pass from WRG to see it. Definately not worth paying for...
