Seven Pounds
It would be good to get some comments on the film from our local "movie critics".

I found it really slow to begin with and somewhat disjointed. In so many words, I had trouble getting into the movie. Then at the very end they try to tie up all the loose end in two minutes flat.

I am sure people who like an emotional film will enjoy it as it is a bit of a tear jerker.

Will Smith plays very well.

Re: Seven Pounds
Post 1
The movie is not bad but too melodramatic at the end. As said above it takes time to understand what is unfolding and if you haven't read anything about the movie before going into the theater you will take about half the movie to start to understand what is really happening.

The interest of the movie is not to know in advance what it is about so I won't comment more on the story line. The central question is what have you to do to find peace with your soul when you carry inside a terrible guilt feeling?

Note that this is the second movie with Will Smith directed by the Italian director Gabriele Muccino. He did view years ago a movie where Will Smith was a guy struggling to find a job and had almost no revenues when he enters a training program that is not paid and lasts 6 months. Add to that that he has to take care of his son after his wife gives up on him (in an unclassy manner it must be said!). That movie is based on a true story and was more interesting than this one.

In a nutshell the movie is not bad but certainly nothing exciting although it is well structured, filmed and acted. You can wait for the DVD.
