Sex and the City - Good
I was looking forward to this one, took my afternoon off to see it right as it came out because I did not want to here too many comments before going.

Well I liked it, you have what you are suppose to... the 4 girls, New York and stories about love and Sex. Carrie with auburn hair is really cute and I hate Big but this is a private matter!

What I feared happened; the story is what I thought they would do because it was the easy way... I won't tell it here because I do not want to give the plot away. Despite this few negative comments I liked it... some good jokes, some tender moments... the same humour we have been used to during the various TV seasons. I was happy to see then again and on big screen.

Between the different girls you have the different aspects of love life. I must say I have a tender feeling for those four ladies, I saw them for the first time when I was studying in the UK almost 10 years ago. Since I have seen most of the episode, probably all and have them on DVD. They made me much curious about sex (if that is possible) and they made me read few things. Thanks to them, not directly, I must say I learned quite a few things.

Sex is great, joyful and fun... exciting and mind-blowing... exquisite and sweet. It is not about performance or how many times you do it... sex is an art form and everybody can learn it. It is not a physical contest but it is all about feeling and connection... many men do not understand that and many women too. It is something we need to learn. It is not innate! Reproduction is! Pleasure is not! We men are mostly to be blamed but through my different relationships I have realised that many women do not know their own body. It is a learning process to really enjoy sex. It comes from this stupid society that depicts sex as dirty and bad. A society that does not want to hear about it or talk about it and only points out the deviant and stupid practices (Max Mosley, Elliot Spitzer...)  Some need to go to extremes and this is not much better. For good sex you need just to be two, preferably be in love but it is not an unconditional necessity, and then let your bodies feel, touch, kiss... (censured!!!!)

Back to the movie itself, I am not a big fan of the money and label part of the show... this is a big part of New York, of Manhattan and often of today's society. And to be honest although the sex part is fun, it is sometimes misleading in my opinion. I must be the only guy to like it, men are made fun of (I make often fun of myself so I don't mind) all the time and although they deserve it they are not responsible alone for the mess relationships often end up in. Ladies you have to learn few things about sex too, not only men!

I have been twice in New York in the last two months (once for holidays once for work) and I love that city. It is just amazing. I love the old skyscrapers (no Freudian psychoanalysis please), the different parts of Manhattan, central park... I just like it... May be one day I will go to the cinema school there.

In a nutshell the movie is good, you have what you are suppose to get, no big surprises but if you love the show and the girls and New York you will like the movie.

Inmoodfor,

WOW! I'm thoroughly impressed with your summarization from a male perspective. You should be a movie critique, as well as, a Sex Columnist for a magazine.  You put your thoughts down perfectly.  Bravo!

I'm actually living in the NYC area right now and will be going to see the movie tomorrow (Friday).  I can't wait. I'm so anxious to see the clothes, the hair, the sex, the men, etc.  It will be fun and I'm going to wear my high heel shoes in honor of the movie.  :D

Thanks for the commentary (and the advice).

Agree 110% with your great summary. Saw the movie last night, and 'good' is also the review I'd give it. Nothing spectacular, nothing too bad, but 'good'.

Knowing what I know now, not sure I would have gone to see it.

Verbier,

The link you posted now works (thanks for sharing it).

For some reason the system identified some of the link's characters as the short code for a smiling icon, but now it's fixed...:)

Well....I had a blast at the opening night of SATC. The NY theater was packed full of excited women (give or take 2 men in the whole place who probably were forced to go by their wives). As I stood in line waiting to get in, I noticed there were women of all ages represented but most of them were in their early 20s who couldn't wait to see the "fab 4". So, I thought - This is pretty cool. When I was in my 20s, women in their 40s weren't glamorized as this movie successfully depicts. Could it be that yesterday's 30s is today's 40s? I sure hope so. But its a nice commentary on society that these women make their 40s look HOT. And goodness knows, a great pair of shoes can make any rainy day look bright.

Although the script was criticized as being Fluff, I really fell for the ups and downs of the story. I laughed, I cried, I got angry with Mr. Big and I also confirmed with myself that I am totally a "Charlotte" type of girl. (There was a time when I thought I was "Samantha" but that only lasted a few minutes. :P) It felt good to see where these characters were in their lives 4 years later. It would be nice to see where they will be 10 years from now. Rumor has it, there's talk of the sequel. Can't wait for that.

In any event, the movie has left me wanting to find my Mr. Big in GVA. Does he exist? hmmm....what would Charlotte do? To be continued...

I think I'm exactly like Mr. Big (except for the money, clothes, hair, looks, and style).

Screw mr big.. is the absolute hunk here in GE?.. Smith Jared makes me melt....

I always preferred Aiden to Big '=(

As a native St. Louisian... I resent the accent, that is not how we sound.  Jennifer Hudsons character annoyed me in general.,

Movies cute, definately a chick flick.. Can drag a boyfriend there.. I dont think hed complain toooo much

I thought the best shot in the movie was . . . . that closet (that would be a studio here in Geneva!):w00t:   and the Oscar de la Renta wedding dress ...

Otherwise, I agree with Lexilent -- I thought the St. Louise character was an afterthought -- like the producers said, ooops, quick, we need a black woman in the movie!!  And the LV bag Carrie gave her was FUGLY!!!!  There are a lot nicer ones --- maybe that's the model they want to push this fall ;)

Otherwise, it was like watching several SATC in a row, except at Balexert!  And why do Samantha's clothes always look like they have shoulder pads?  Soooooo 80s...

Thank you!

That bag should be burned, the same for the patchwork denim one..

The shoulder pads, as well as the bathing suits and bottoms that ALWAYS cover her naval.. they definately could have modernized her outfits

Ha! Translator, you crack me up!  :D

While I think the movie was very good, I think Jennifer Hudson's character was unnecessary.  I didn't see the point.   Maybe the writers should have added a little more concentration on Charlotte getting pregnant because that was a HUGE topic in the series.  And I must admit, I did miss Aiden.  I thought he was Yummier and less arrogant than Mr. Big. Oh well!

But my favorite line - "I could be on death row and NOT have that situation.".... classic Samantha!
