Sorry meant this Gordon Lightfoot song. And why not some more Simon & Garfunkel!

Universal Soldier - Donovan: First song I thought of. He looks like a little boy in the video but his lyrics are very strong.

The Last Resort - The Eagles: One of the lesser-known Eagles songs, but great melody and lyrics. Social commentary? It's about ugly construction is beautiful places.

Yep loved both those songs and performers.  Buffy St. Marie does a good cover of Universal Soldier and The Eagles despite being just a great rock n roll band had many social commentary (environmental and other topics) songs.  Long road Out of Eden has a few but can't find originals on youtube.

I prefer this version of the Sound of Silence:

Hello Forum, my old friend

I’ve come to write in you again.

Because a thread that I was reading,

was hijacked while I was sleeping.

And Chomsky’s quotes, are posted once again

and still remain

within the posts of Glocals

And on this Glocals site I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People reading at a total loss
People reading without giving a toss
People reading blogs they’d wish were never shared
but no one dared
Report the posts in Glocals

This thread is way too propah! Where I come from, social commentary ain't like cricket commentary - no one's supposed to understand every word.

Adding some much needed wise words in anti-social format from French underground. With extra masala, comme d'habitude.
