Spiderman 3 - not worth it
I've seen SM1 and 2 the two previous weeks on DVD with my son, and quite enjoyed them, even if it's not my kind of movie usually. But number three just sucks. All the action can be forcatsed from the start. Some ideas, SM going on the dark side for instance, might have been interesting, but were treated so badly they lost any interest. Some cliches - SM on top of the american flag, the best friend saying soory before dying at the end without any attempt to ressucitate him - and even some nonsense - the big bad sandman suddenly turning into sorrow for no reason - just drawn that awfully long movie.

I though it would be average but must be seen... it's just crap and to be avoided.

Was very dissapointed, myself and a friend (Grew up in america) groaned in disbelief at the shot of Spider man landing infront of the American Flag, so corny. Definately not the best spiderman movie they've ever made, was expecting to see some more exploring into the dark side of Spiderman, exploring the new powers that he had recieved, instead they made him more like the mask then a dark spiderman.

Just remember... 6 years ago, which is an eternity in the special effects industry, Terminator 2 was facing a liquid metal opponent that could morph into any life person's appearance jsut perfectly. Remember when the "policeman" walks through the prison door, melting around it ? That was incredible ! (and still is, somehow).

Six years later, Spiderman looks like a pot of cheap computer jelly whenever he's flying, jumping, etc. Textures are miserable, movements poor, general rendering average. So, in the end, there are then 6 spidermen in that movie: Mr Parker, Mr Parker in red costume, Mr Parker in black costume, badly computer generated red SM, badly computer generated black SM, and the badly computer generated turned into black SM alike photograph... at least half of them are useless to me !

I understood the French (THANKS for not telling me it was VOICE OVER!!!!>_<) I could understannd the corniness, so I can only judge by the graphics and the quirky acting of Toby (I'm sorry, but there's GOT to be a better actor than him)...

I still haven't learned yet that movies here are often dubbed. I should've learned the last time i went to see Babel where I couldn't understand 2/3 of the movie (the arabic part, some of the spanish, and the deaf japanese girl's sign languaging that was subtitled in French)

Just to make it clear, if it were not, I was NOT the one who organized this activity, and I was surprised to face the french version of it myself. I'd gladly give the organizer's name for him to get the full credit... but as you're complaining, I won't give his name in public ;-)

by the so called "Broadcast Flag", which is a FCC plan to manage copyright on digital television, haven't you ?

And just because I'm not the only one to criticise, here is what the Times critic wrote:

"...The problem is that even Spider-Man’s “evil” side is still hopelessly mild-mannered. We are shown a montage of his sub-Mr Hyde depravities. His hair droops over one eye; he swaggers along the street; he flirts with passers-by; his girl ditches him; and he makes an ass of himself in a nightclub. In short, he behaves like a textbook drunk on any given Saturday night.

A horrifying glimpse into the unspeakable pit of the human soul this is not.

Also disappointing is the inability of the director, Sam Raimi, to end the romp without a fleeting shot of the American flag. The Stars and Stripes just happens to be fluttering behind Spidey as he makes his triumphal return to honour, probity and good honest fist-fighting."

"Yes, making the leaping, climbing, swinging, diving and building-scaling antics of Tobey Maguire seem even slightly realistic has always been problematic. And, unsurprisingly, for Spider-Man 3, they have again resorted to the rendering room to produce a computer-generated hero who is as convincing on screen as the Super Mario Bros."

I'm not the only picky art director out there at least :-D

I am here to defend Spiderman III poor guy with all the troubles he has!!!! Ok it is not the best of the three movies, but it has some funny parts in it like when Spiderman turns into this arrogant ashole it is real fun... we all have all our dual personality... Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide, this 'La part de l'autre' (French novel) and the film plays on that... How many times we do not realise that we hurt someone by doing something that to us is inconsistent... OK the things that comes from space and turns the good Spiderman into the bad Spiderman is not the most intelligent way of introducing this existential dilema into our hero but it's a comics based movie so you get what you look for! Action, love and drama in a simple and binary way (altough here the good that turns bad and good again or the bad that turns good and then bad again and finally good again... all this might be difficult to follow and confusing!!!!) And in the end you have the moral conclusion... we have the choice (well this is up for debate... but essentially yes we have the choice to do good things out of bad or difficult situations But if your really want a good movie then go for V for Vendetta this one is excellent and 'philosophically' intelligent

The movie is not much more than a game-boy on a big screen costing you chf17.-

Even with game-boys, where as the last threader says, it's all about good and evil and the choices we make Dude!

But the scene where I got some angry looks from the 12 year olds for laughing out loud was when the best friend/enemy dies:
I could not help sniggering loudly at Spidey's quivering face, so full of emotion, taking up the entire screen (I almost handed him a hanky).

And if the Sandman was really repentant, seems like he could have offered himself for the Geneva lakeside. All those big rocks...

Watched it last friday, after a long day at work... and found it so boring I nearly slept.
I liked the 1st, but think theyshould have stopped there (as it's nearly always the case).
