The movie is about love, hatred, manipulation and vengeance. It is about what people would do to move up the social latter, how they sacrifice their own family. But this is above all the story of two sisters and how far one would go to avenge herself and hurt her sister for what she took for a treachery.
Although I preferred Elisabeth, the Golden Age, the movie is worth it because it shows the dark side of human ambition (at different levels, those who use others to advance in life and those who use their own ability to reach their goals and do not hesitate to hurt others. What makes me always smile is how someone who uses dirty tricks on others without any second thoughts finds it so unfair when he/she is victim of the same stratagem.
I remembered only vaguely Anne Boleyn from my school days, the name stayed anchored in my mind but I would have been incapable of putting her at the right place in history. I like these movies that have an historical tune to them.
In a nutshell, this a good movie, definitely worth seeing if you like history.
