The Wrestler - excellent
The Wrestler is an excellent movie but you should not be fouled by the title. If you imagine this is just a hollywood money machine about wrestling you will be disappointed.

This is a beautiful movie, even if you forget the parallel between Mickey Rourke and his character. For those that have missed the last Rockie go and rent it. It is the same quality and intensity. Like in the last Rockie, just forget about boxing and wrestling... what matters is the story of the characters, their lives, their struggles...

In the last Rockie there was this beautiful line about the right to pursue happiness (in the US constitution if I am not mistaken). In the Wrestler, although the character is completely physically broken by wrestling, has bruises all over his body... he has this beautiful line when he says that he cannot be hurt on the ring (even if many things are fake in wrestling, they do get hurt) but the people outside the ring can hurt. hi,

The character is very touching when he tries to start a new life with his daughter and completely screws it up for a stupid mistake. The movie is a beautiful metaphor of life and that what really hurts in life are the emotional injuries.

In a nutshell a great movie, a great story... do not miss that one. Everybody deserves a second chance, sometimes a third one!

I could not agree more.

The Wrestler is one of the best movies I have ever seen. A masterpiece.

There is not a lot of things to add to these descriptions, except the fact that Hollywood missed the last chance to honour an outstanding Mickey Rourke who played his own life in as the Wrestler. Some Mickey Rourke fans will find a clear link to one of his best films "Homeboy" where he had already the chance to put his life in a movie (Rourke was a former professional boxer). In order to make it really a Hollywood-Story the Oscar 2009 for best male actor went to Sean Penn who - same as Rourke - was always the Hollywood-Non-conformist but a well dressed rebel whereas Rourke got lost not in translation but in his own life. The Wrestler is therefore a hymn on the non-understood of what makes your life worth: Being loved whatever the price is
