Sympathy, by Marillion. I had to look up the original singer: it's Rare Bird, in 1970.

Jethro Tull & Anoushka Shankar's Bourée. It follows an Indian classical form called jugalbandi where two soloists play the lead in a playful competition.
It's recorded live, so the video's pretty sad and there's a LOT of background noise.

Let me just post my 2 favorite covers ever.
Good call, Watchtower is the best. The original Dylan version was pretty lame, and now Dylan performs the Hendrix version....

For me, an icon for pop was Michael Jackson.
Two albums that were not only suprising but strange.
Thriller of Michael Jacksons cover of him looking so swag in white suit. It just looked somehow like a gigalo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_%28album%29
Then also his Bad Album , with a him in leather jacket, steal bolt rivets in jacket, chains. So he was trying to get the Ghetto image or Ghetto Roots? or just a bad boy image? but with him soft voice and dance moves, its totally unconvincing that he was getting back to ghetto roots, that he never had, or just lost a long time ago.
