eat , pray , love by Elizabeth Gilbert
"Ketut, why is life all crazy like this ?" I asked my medicine man the next day.

He replied, "Bhuta ia, dewa ia"

"what does that mean?"

"Man is a demon, man is a god. Both true."

This was a familiar idea to me. It's a very Indian , very yogic. The notion that human beings are born, as my Guru explained many times, with the equivalent potential for both contraction and expansion. The ingredients of both darkness and light are equally present in all of us, and the it's up to the individual (or family or society) to decide what will be brought forth -the virtues or the malevolence"

from "eat ,pray, love"

This year i received a pocketbook from my mother for my birthday

at first it seemed shallow and simple but as i got into it i found the ideas discussed deep and complex, simplified by the writing of the talented author,

a woman who goes through a painful divorce and a spiritual crisis that leads her to examine her belief system and go to live for a short period of time in Italy, experiencing food and pleasure, India experiencing prayer and devotion and Bali finding love and beauty.

I have had a difficult time letting this book go at the end, i carried it with me everywhere

reading very slowly and carefully.

Men who read it will gain insight to the mind of a woman

women who read it will gain insight to themselves

and it seems to me everyone i meet somehow has heard about this book or read it.

Highly Recommended . Now i want to go to Bali too !:)
