la face cachee - french movie
This is a drama, a childless couple that seems to have lost this little sparkle that makes it so great to share someone's life.

The good thing about the movie is that although the guy seems the central character, the lady is the main person here. He has some existentialist doubts and wonders about the meaning of life... but his girlfriend is the one that really suffers. It is not the one that speaks out loud his doubts that necessarily suffers the most I do not want to give the plot here, so for those curious enough I let you discover by yourself what her 'problem' is. How soon will you guess?

The movie is directed by Bernand Campan (ex inconnu) which makes me think of an excellent movie he played in 'L'homme de ma vie' really excellent. Back to this one; he is so obsessed to perfectly play a piece on the piano that he does not understand the pressure he puts on his girlfriend. I never thought of it but being hard on yourself could be such a burden to the person you love. Because in the end you make her think you are not ready to accept her shortcomings. I never thought it that way... so be careful in your lives. However, I think that it is not because you ask so much from yourself that it is what you expect from your partner.

They have a nice metaphor of life in the movie; life is like canoe-kayak. You go down the river you are shacked, you go underwater sometimes, you hit a rock and it hurts. Some of us are ready for it, are trained for it and enjoy it because they now the risks, how to deal with them, avoid many pitfalls and get most of the pleasure of the ride despite some little setbacks. That's why they like canoe-kayak... but others are unprepared for it and have just to go down the same river! Is it the same with our lives? Well actually his friends tells him that may be it is not the same river, some go down a little river with mo excitements and no pain and other the Niagara falls!!! He made a point too!

Ok the movie is nice, not great but it makes you think about life. An interesting drama worth watching.
The text you are quoting:
