The critics are pretty negative with this movie. Actually it is already available on DvD. It is more a historical movie than an action or secret agent thing. It is also interesting to see that Angelina Jolie can successfully make herself much older than she actually is.
Well if you like looking at the human side of historical events you will love it!
Cheers,
B.

I loved it and it proves Hollywood can do excellent stuff outside the usual big budget blockbuster that come out month after month.
This is the story of the birth of the CIA and I think the guy who wrote the story line has spent years looking for various documents and talking to people to come close to the real thing. You have to have a clear mind to watch it, it goes back and forth in time, jumps from one decade to the other, flashbacks... and you have to be concentrated to fit the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. Do not got there if you are tired you will miss 50% of it.
This movie is about secrets, what you can and cannot tell whom to believe and thus you can trust and those you should beware of, those that will betray you... It is a tale of treachery, ideals how far you can go for what you believe in!!! There is love, hate, passion and blackmailing... there is drama and poetry... great actors, beautiful lines and you just get carried away by the ideal behind it... and you think I would do the same kind of sacrifice, there is some euphoria in it... you believe in it... and then some things are just cruel... the central character is not an angel, he had his 'dark' side, his weak spots too but he was driven by an ideal... may be because he lost another one...
Actors are great, De Niro behind the camera is good too... and after all the bad publicity the CIA is getting after the mess in Iraq and the false evidence they forged to justify going into Iraq... this movie at least shows that some of these spies believed in what they did, had ideals... right or wrong some where truly honest and believed in democracy... others were opportunist, like everywhere.
This is not an action movie, this is not a James Bond type stuff (I love James Bond not convinced by the last one but that's not the point)... this is an historical testimony, well documented and realised. It requires some effort from the viewer it is not pure entertainment. It reminds me of the Clooney's movie about the early days of TV censorship, do not remember the title, came out last year...
If you have time go for it.
