Hey Beth! Sounds like a great idea. I'm from Sweden myself and also looking to learn French so I'm afraid I can't help you much with that. However, I hope to be able to help with making friends and having a good time :)

I'll probably be going to this afterwork drinks on Friday that's here on the glocals site. But this is probably not very twentysomething-ish..SO me and two friends are going out dancing after if you want to join us :)

Sounds good to me, when and where shall I meet you, I don't know my way around Lausanne confidently yet  but I am pretty sure that I can manage with some instruction haha! I will have to make sure that i catch the last train home a around 12:10pm so dancing may not be an option?? But I am up for some drinks and a bit of a social. :D

Hiya, it loos like we are in similar situations, im an Au pair here too and have also not long finished university. I spent my year after university 'saving' to go travelling which didnt go very well so thought I would travel for free for a bit!!

I cant go out this Fri as going to a friends house party. But I would be up for meeting another time. I do work till 8 on most weeknights and have to be in for 12 so that might be a bit more difficult!

I have managed to meet quite a lot of people though and have been lucky that everyone has been really nice! I would definately recommend going to a few events, I went to the first one alone and was the best thing I did!!

One idea is to meet up at the afterwork on Friday (often the crowds are mixed ages anyway), or we can meet up after for the going out part. Even if you can't stay long, we can have some drinks before. I agree with Laura that going to the events is great! I met a lot of nice people and even though ages vary, there's always people that are in their twenties (at least me for example ;)).

We haven't decided yet where we are going, but I'll check with the others :)
