Welcome to CH from the lovely Montreal. After 5 years of living there, I also moved to Lausanne to work at EPFL.
There are plenty of events (after work drinks, hikes, movie nights) through which you can meet new people.
I hope that you enjoy your stay here (it will be for how long?).
