Hi there, I've been offered a position in Geneva and currently live in the UK. My new company has asked to provide them with an address so they can prepare the contract and arrange my permit. Has anyone else experienced this or can suggest how to do this as I won't be in the city until I start the job? Thanks!

You should secure an address in Switzerland, even temporary, before moving. This can be an apparthotel or even a room in a private house, since renting with Régies without having started a job might be difficult. Sublets (which you can find in Classifieds) are also a good option -- just check that everything is in order, as house scams are frequent.

To speak frankly, a more correct term is "nightmare".
If I may suggest, as you have an address in Geneva you should immediately join ASLOCA, the tenant's association. They will help you in case of problems with the apartment or the landlord (very frequent). It costs you 70 CHF per year but you can easily save thousands of CHF thanks to them.
