Around Geneva for 2 months now and willing to meet new people
Hi there,

I have been around Geneva for two months now. I have already met some people here and someone told me about this site. It is a great idea.

Some practical things about me: I am Portuguese and I always lived in Lisbon, until now. I am 25 years old I just finished a master's in computer science. I moved here to work at cern. I am enjoying, but I still feel pretty alone at times. Specially now that everyone is out for the holidays. And also because I am actually living in a little village in France, very close to the border, called Saint-Genis-Pouilly. I also still didn't manage to get internet at home so, you see, I am somewhat disconnected from the world.

I would like to meet people and I am willing to participate in something, like just a chat with a coffee, or a movie, or a night out, ... I am on vacations until the 4th of January and I hope I can meet some of you until then - but I warn you that I don't speak any French :S

Also, I would like to have some fun in the new year's eve. I already saw some posts about that, but I am kind of unsure what to do. Something where I can get to by public transport would be great, because I don't have a car. I would like to get some advice on what would be the best choice.

Sorry for the long _first_ post.

A very happy new year to you all ;) Hope to meet you soon.

Oi Ricab,

Welcome to Geneva and to glocals.com!

Maria is right, and she gave you the best advice. Just post any activity on the Member-Activities section, and see which members want to join you...It really works!

Enjoy GVA, and have a great 2009,

Nir

Ricardo! There's a group of us meeting tomorrow night in the Old Town and males are welcome. See the Members Activity section for Mich - it's at her place - and we can party and celebrate New Year's. That is if you're up for it.

I'm new too - only signed up a couple of days ago - and I don't know anyone so it's my first time.

No need to speak any French - I take it the people coming over are multilingual.

Just an idea...

Hey, thanks for the invitation. Me and a friend had considered the event Mich posted and I would probably have showed up if I had read this earlier, but I don't have internet at home yet and I didn't see this until now :S In fact, I ended up with no one from glocals because of that.

Anyway, I hope it went well and that you enjoyed a nice evening. I had a nice time wandering in Geneva and getting along with unknown people. I only didn't get along with the public transports and I only got home at almost 9am...

Maybe we'll meet soon for some other event :)

Happy new year!

Ricab and Mich: Feliz Natal!

What you guys did is exactly what glocals is all about: meeting new people and doing real-life activities with them...(-:

I did the same as you after meeting some nice people from glocals.

Wandering the street about 2am became a bit dangerous with black ice all over the sidewalks!

But it seems we all made it safely where we intended so in the end all was good. Jan 1 was a nice sunny day as well.
