Bonjour! Recently Moved from NYC.

Actually been on glocals for a few weeks now but never formally introduced ourselves.

My wife and I recently moved from NYC/NJ this month, and have been slowly trying to adjust to life here in Geneva.

We're still suffering from sticker shock (even compared to NYC prices), but the country is beautiful and TPG puts the MTA/NJTransit to shame.

If you would like to share a few (or many) drinks or watch some sports (Champions League/World Cup!/American Football in the fall). Let us know!

Also if you're a regie and can explain the madness that is this flat rental process we'd also like to speak to you. /s

Hi fellow NYCers,

Welcome to Geneva! I am not a regie, I have some experience to share with you on the rental process... and am looking for someone to take over my place in Eaux Vives. If you are looking, let me know and I can show and share.

For rental assistance, look up the Asloca association, they provide free legal advice to renters (you will need it, guaranteed).

For American Football, pay attention to fellow American "Zonker". He normally organizes Sunday meet ups to watch games at Mr. Pickwick's on Rue de Lausanne and is a nice guy. Bad news: he is a Patriots fan (go Steelers ).

Hi! Welcome to Geneva Actually, after living here for a couple of years, I figured out that housing situation is better than I was told when I just arrived. And it is possible to find a good accomodation for a reasonable price (for Switzerland). So good luck!

PM me if your flat is still available with the details, specifically when we'd be taking over. I'm an Eagles fan so we can stay out of each other's ears unless they both reach the Superbowl.

Look fwd to many Sundays at Mr.Pickwicks. BTW- do they play a bunch of games or just a few? Also, do they play College Football games by any chance?

@Ayrana: Thanks for the kind words. It seems like finding apt's that are available is no problem. It's getting the regie to respond/offer that's been the hardest for us. But we've gotten a few great leads so hopefully we have that secured sooner than later. Thanks again.

Welcome to Geneva!

I hope you're settling nicely here! I moved over here with my partner from the UK in January and had relocation help provided through his work with Lodge Relocation. I'm unsure what their rates are but they were excellent in regards to our property search and dealt with all the paperwork/regie directly so we didn't have to and very lucky to do so!

As for sports I know Lady Godiva (Plainpalais) will be showing all World Cup games!
