British girl new to Geneva, seeking to meet new people and embrace the city!

Hi, my name is Carley and I arrived here from Scotland a couple of months ago having finished my university degree in Edinburgh. I came here to experience something different, meet new people and learn French. Although I love the city, at times I have to say that I find it quite dull and would love to meet more fun people to share my Swiss experience with. I hope to stay here for at least one year. If you can relate, please get in touch, would be lovely to hear from you.

Welcome to Geneva. I can imagine that Geneva looks dull. It's fine once you get to know some people but it's not Edinburgh (been there 3 times, going again this spring). It will be pretty hard to find Haggis here, for one thing, though accross the border in France they have some similarly disgusting things at some butchers.

Let us know if you have any specific questions, and join some events that you like to get to know more people.

Hey Carley,

I've just moved here after a 3 year stint in Embra! Being a weegie (with a carefully disguised accent, it wasn't too tough Tongue out But yeah, having spent at least 3 months here on and off since Dec '10, I've been persuaded to move.

Geneva is really a 'make your own fun' kinda town and doesn't have the same underground/alt scene as we have back home. Maybe they need their own version of The List!

If you're interested in discovering the kinda cool stuffs in Geneva, gimme a shout.

Pool?

Visiting different churches, and then becoming critical, then regaining your passionate identity?

Walking or riding all the way along the lake...

Visiting all the Palexpo Expo

Frisbee?

Finding the meaning of life...(in all different dimentions)

Talking to all foreigners about Swiss and viceversa

Trying to fugure out where all the money moves (also through the news)

Just ask...

Hi Heather,

I'm pretty much a free agent for a while (I'm the dreaded 'trailing spouse'), so I'm  free from Thursday this week and onwards.

@everyone do you fancy a wander (nice way of saying 'getting lost') in Carouge on Thurs or Friday this week?

Carouge is a rather good place to wander, though I work there so upon entering the surrounding area I begin to cry and shake with fear...

Having moved from the UK myself, you instantly notice subtle differences here...this was clear to me on NYE when I thought, oh I'll just wander around and join a party...NOBODY on the streets...

As Sharon said, it's a little lacking in the Alt scene, but there's still plenty to do in the surrounding area, also Zurich is plentiful for this!

What are you doing over here then, or is it literally a trip to see what happens?

Welcome anyway! Hopefully you'll find SOMETHING to interest you here!

Hello Carley,

I am new here too -- today marks 1 week into my Geneva adventure. I am from Toronto, Canada, and after having spent 13 months in Italy, I decided to move here.

I would love to meet up with everyone for a wander through Carouge. Let me know when and where, and I will be there.

Thanks :)
