Coming back to Geneva and a newbie on GOL..
Just wanted to say hello to all the Members and introduce myself. I'm Terry, by far the worse of two halves as my lovely wife Sandra (Swiss and a Geneva Girl to boot) outshines me by a long way!

We currently work overseas but do find the odd occasion to get back to Geneva and we will be visiting once again in June/July. Sandra has her itinerary which I believe involves hitting the credit card for all its worth(!) but I will find myself at a loose end and I hope one or two of you kind people can pass on some info.

My two favourite hobbies are shooting and off road driving and as I'm still relatively new to Geneva I'm not sure what's available. Are there any like minded people out there who can point me in the right direction?

Looking forward to coming back and meeting some of you over a beer!

Regards to all,

Terry

Hey Nomad,

Welcome (soon) to Geneva!

Your intro made me smile, especially Sandra's agenda. I coudl relate bro...(-:

As for shooting, there are a few ranges around here, and in some of them you can also shoot pretty heayy stuff.

Off roading I do not know about, but there's so much country side here, that I imagine there's a ton of off roading too.

The best would be for you to post something on the 'members activities' section, calling on members to join you on shooting or off roading, and see who is up for it...

Good luck, and welcome to the community,

Nir

Cheers Nir,

Trouble is, I don't know where the ranges are, rules etc so I'm really looking for someone in the know. I'll do as you suggested and post on the activities forum.

Thanks for the welcome mate!

I know it's kinda backwards to post a comment before introduction but that's coming too in a bit. As for off-roading, I had the same hobby in the States (had a built Wrangler) and was hoping to do something mild in Switzerland too but been hearing the same thing about it not being allowed. Maybe there are some clubs with a private area but I've yet to find one. However, I was reading in a French 4x4 magazine about orgainzed rides in many areas of France. These seem to be more of a sight-seeing type involving mild off-roading suitable for stock 4x4 vehicles, stay in campgrounds or hotel and such. Prices were around the F300-F700 a week range. There were some websites in the article too that I can get for you if you're interested.

As for shooting, I used to do that too but nowdays it's archery. I hope to find some ranges or a club where I could do 3D archery or traditional archery...
