Hi Yessa!

Maybe we can get together for a drink when we both are settled in November?

Good luck with your moving!

We should definitely get a drink when we are both settled, Amber.  Now, I'm off to try and look for an apartment.  Yikes!

Yasou Alexandros.

I'm employed by a UN agency.  I saw your request for assistance in navigating the Geneva job market in another post and unfortunately, I can't assist with that as this is my first experience with both Geneva and the UN.  As for the apartments, the classifieds section of this site seems to have a pretty good listing of places (and roommate requests if you want to cut down on costs.)

Yasou Tessa!

I see greek greeting are famous still even after this crisis;)...Indeed I am looking for job but also house. It s great that housing may funtion with sharing etc since I was living in Holland for 1.5 year and sharing houses were very common. Do landlords accept that and if so under what circumstances?

Thanks a lot again

Alexandros,

I'm Greek-american hence the knowledge of Greek.  I really have absolutely no experience with Swiss anything (other than fabulous chocolate.).  And I don't have an apartment yet, so I can't even tell you about rules surrounding roommates, sublets or anything else.  Look around the site for more info - there's a lot here especially in the classifieds (jobs too!)  And hopefully, some of the other glocals will be able to assist.  Sorry I can't be of more help - I just have no idea how anything works in Switzerland yet.  I have all of the same questions actually as you so if I find anything, I will point you in that direction.

Hoping you all be able to settle soon in Geneva. @Tessa, if you are employed by the UN agency, your HR could help you settle in Switzerland.. God luck to everyone!

Hello Amber, Geia sou Yessa kai Alexandre.

Here is a link that helped me a lot to find an apartment:

http://www.npph.net/immo.html

It's a list of sites that have apartement and a list with all the different regies that rent apartements. But believe me finding an apartment in Geneva is really really hard!!! As there aren't that many. I hope this site helps all of you

Hi Guys,

I am also coming mid Nov to Geneva - now my biggest concern is the app - I started looking, but seems it won't be so easy. So if you know anything about places to rent, pls let me know. And if you are for a coffee - would be eager to join. Good luck with the moving!

Cheers, Anna

Good luck with the move here, Tessa and Amber!

Amber, I'm an au pair as well.  I've been in Geneva since August.  If you have any questions about what to expect/bring, feel free to ask away.

Good luck with everything and see you both in November!

You definitely chose the best time other than summer to come, you'll (hopefully!) miss out the transition from summer to winter (rain), and just get the snow!

You'll find plenty of cool people, so don't worry about that! There's loads of people in the same boat as you, and Glocals is a great way to scope the place out before and when you get here!

Good luck with your move in the meantime!
