As you have been a ski instructor you'll understand.... the best friend right now is the white stuff falling down. Great location for skiing, is that part of the reason to come here? Anyway, welcome to Geneva!

exactly i am sooooo happy at all the snow that has been coming the last couple of days makes me very happy. I didnt actually come for the skiing initially tho i am here for work, i am working as cabin crew for easyjet but the decision to leave uk and move to geneva was alot easier to make when i knew what the skiing was like over here. am yet to venture up the mountains for a blast but im sure i will soon

In fairness I ve heard of a number of people with similar jobs living here or even further afield, eg Chamonix even if their job was based in Luton to enjoy the mountains. Alpes or Luton... tough choice! That aspect has to be the best thing about geneva, the environment around.

hi laura,

i am new to france, by geneva and have been feeling a bit lonely and worried about how to meet people and make friends. did you find it easy to settle in? and did you make friends through glocals?

Hi Nikki,

It's not really easy here and don't expect to get to know real locals in the beginning. I went through the same thing a year ago and know what I am talkinng about. I made my way through two good hearted people organizing drinks in small crowds only. The Fresh Fish Drinks by Jolly. She is great and organizing it regularly maybe twice a month. Go there. I went on my own and although I admit I felt like joining the equivalent of anonymous alcoholics for friends and friendship I got to know ppl I still see! And go to Minda's Thursday Drinks. Same for Minda. they do a lot of good stuff and you will feel OK. Don't worry, it will be allright, takes some time.

Good luck,

Andrej
