German couple looking for advice about moving to Geneva

Hey everyone,

I am a particle physicist, starting as a full-time researcher at CERN in November. Me and my partner, an architect, no children, no pets, 30 years old, are looking for any kind of advice concerning living in Geneva and how to start a life there. We will stay for at least two and a half years, so we have obviously started to revive our French skills. But we would be happy if some of you more experienced folks can give us some advice about what to be mindful of when moving to Geneva. Any tips regarding searching a flat, insurance, mobility, sport clubs, activities, et cetera are appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance!
Maximilian and Aylin

Hi, at Cern you can find cluster of activities by countries, communities or by center of interest for newbies. I reccomend you to contact the front desk, they are always very helpful. U also have intranet access to a lot of information about accomodation, courses etc and help from others like u too.

Cheers

Welcome to Glocals Maximillan and Aylin.

A 2 1/2 bedroom flat will be coming up by the end of Octobe, from one of our Geneva Runners friend. (Carouge)

Look for an "Airbnb" for the first 3 months.

Hope this helps for a start. Good luck.
