German girl from Cologne, new in Geneva

Hello guys,

My name is Annie, I live in Geneva since 6 month. I come from Cologne. I have the impressio that its very hard to find some real friends or meeting people easily here, in Cologne it´s very different and much easier. I try to find work since 6 months and also this is very hard, do you know why?

Any other people here from Cologne? Which bars you can recommand me in the middle of the week or clubs where i also can go alone?

i would be very thankful:)

Greetings

Welcome to glocals!

First of all, check “Things to do” and the “Groups” to find members with similar interests and/or German speakers.

As for the job market, there are many German-speaking Swiss in Geneva who obviously get priority for posts requiring German mother-tongue, so you need to work on your French and/or English to compete.  That said, it often takes up to a year (or more) for a newcomer to find employment, so don’t get disheartened and keep on trying.  In the meantime, widen your circle of contacts by joining glocals’ activities, volunteering with local charities, baby-sitting, dog-walking, etc.

Your diary will soon be full of meet-ups with new friends.

Best wishes,

R.
