Welcome to glocals! Just read your US blog, and like it a lot. Very witty stuff...(-:
Geneva is different than Michigan: it's a real small city, where stores close early and the night life is relatively sleepy. It's got a great outdoors all around, and a relatively comfy living. If that's what you're looking for, come on down...(-:

as Nir the founder of this great site says, Geneva's a sleepy town, but has a great international / expat community. but cost of living is quite high, housing in the city is very limited, and without a job who will sponsor you to work here it will be practically difficult to find housing.
I just returned back to the east coast after a long time overseas, and I definitely think living in a culture very different from america is quite a thrill. You quickly meet so many folks from all different cultural backgrounds. Kind of like what america is, but people in europe maintain their culture and have a sense of pride. and especially during the world cup!
The best way to experience it, if you have the luxury of 'time', is to go out and travel a bit to a few of the locations. Alternatively a move away from Michigan may do the trick. Sorry, i've never been to Michigan nor much of middle America. but hopefully I'll have the chance now that i'm back here for awhile.
Good luck in your search.
