Hiking-New in Geneve.

Hello,

I will be moving to Geneva and would like to know a few things. Would like to ask you a few questions.

Is it possible to do hiking this time of the year?

Also, do you know of any groups to do nordic walking?

Anyway. I am quite social and I am looking foward to meeting new people in Geneva...

Thanks a lot.

Gustavo.

Hi Gustavo,

Yes, it is possible to do hiking this time of the year. However, if you expect to have snow-free paths, you will have to stay in the lowlands. The other alternatives is to do a snowshoes hike... As a Mountain Leader, I could propose organising such hikes.

Best regards

Charles,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Charles, another question. What about sharing a flat, any ideas?

Hi Charles,

Are you organizing any hikes still in Geneva? I just moved here and would love to explore the country side around here. In exchange, I could talk to you about trees (I studied forestry).

best regards, Kavita.

At the moment there is not much snow around up to 2000 metres (depends whether on North or South side). After that it is snow shoeing but you should have full avalanche equipment unless you know the area well and can avoid ne avalanche prone areas - there are not many

Hi Kavita,

Yes, I am still organizing tours around Geneva. My website is however not yet updated since I am setting up the 2013 tours schedule. I will let you know as soon as I have it done...

Best regards

You are coming to the right place for hiking sir....

In fact it's the muts nuts  for hiking around geneva.

There are plenty of hiking people on glocal and groups but there is also the C.A.S (Club Alpin Suisse) or French equivalent (C.A.F) depending which side of the border you might prefer.

Voila...

Regarding snow conditions: we were at the Lac Blanc (2300m south slope) last Sunday and did not put on our snow shoes. We went about 150 metres higher and were in 30 cm powder and the snow shoes were helpful.  This weekend only going up to 2000 metres and not taking snowshoes
