I have recently signed up to Glocals at a recommendation from a friend. Though I am not new to Switzerland I am new to Glocals. I live in Forel Lavaux, which is situated between Lausanne and Vevey. I breed alpacas and process their fibre. I have two grown up children, one a Patisserie Chef now working in Scotland and getting married next year; the other in finance in London. Before arriving in Switzerland I spent 22 years in Asia, mainly Japan, with some time in Hong Kong helping my now exhusband in the wine industry. I love wine tasting; cinema; trying out new restaurants and generally having fun.

Interesting job you have. An alpaca wool scarf is being knitted for me as we speak. I can't wait to wear it. =)

Hi there and welcome to Glocals! Do you let people (and their kids) visit your alpacas? How do you process the fibers? Would be great to know if you also have a website...

Yes I do accept group visits but with children it is not quite so simple as though alpacas are really cute to look at they are not that friendly! I tend to say No to children younger than 8 years old, also with the fibre processing I am not allowed to have children younger than 14 years old in the Mill - too many tempting buttons to push for those little fingers!!!
I do Passeport des Vacances and I explain about the animals, let them touch the fibre and then teach them how to felt - basic felting which they can then take home! Proves quite popular.
Yes I have a website - www.closdujoratalpacas.com

How special to have someone knit an alpaca scarf for you - you will love it, the wool is so warm and light.
