Moving from Canada in January

Hello!

We just found out that my husband got a contract at the WHO in January (lasting until August) and we have one month to get everything figured out! I am freaking out a little bit...especially since we have a 4 month old son. We are currently looking for a sublet and are hoping to find something in time. I would love to find a group of moms to connect with once we move!

Looking forward to it!

Hi Aimee,

Can you speak french? If you can get WHO to help you find a place it would be miles better than doing it yourself. Everyone seems to have had a different experience but in general finding accomodation here isn't easy. Here is a link to a classified section that has sublets in Geneva.

So that you aren't totally freaked out with such a short moving time, consider having your husband come a few weeks or month before to scope out the city and weed through some apartments.

Hi Aimee, I'm not a Mum but work as a nanny here in Geneva.  The litle girl that I look after and I go to two playgroups which I'd be happy to take you along to, Just give me a shout when you arrive.  All the best with the move.

Hi Aimee,

Geneva is a lovely place and I am sure you will enjoy your time here.  Another site to find an apartment is homegate.ch  also check the classified section of glocals for apartment listings.

Thank you for the sites! They are really helpful! I am hoping we can get living arrangements figured out before we get there. My husband would go earlier but  I would prefer to have him with me if I am travelling for 16+ hours with a 4 month old baby.

Thanks Holly for letting me know about the playgroups. When we get there (and know where we are living!) I'll be in touch! :)
