Definitely Lausanne. For Art Basel you can always take a train. Good luck!

I think that wherever you'll go you'll get the language through the time. Lausanne, Basel, Geneve, Zuerich, Neuchatel and Luzern are all beautiful cities. To me the best is Zuerich because of a widest variety of people. It's the largest city and looks like a tiny metropolis.
But it's up to you man. Wherever you'll go, enjoy yourself :-)

Basel is the European cultural city and you can visit Germany or France within minutes.

Prices for a decent flat are much higher in Lausanne comparing to Basel.
Whats your opinion.

brilliant city basel. lot of fun. lausanne is good to but completely different. The best swiss has to offer is Zurich!
Zurich is essentially the unofficial capitol. all the trains lead to zurich, everything is max 3 hours away. the music scene, the theatre/shows, the international events/shows.
The vibe and feeling just seems better than what the other cities have

I will move to Genève at the ending of this year.
Thanks

Hi there
In central Basel you can find flats with one bedroom from CHF 700/800
and with two bedrooms from CHF 1000/1200
In central Geneva its starts from CHF 1000 for a studio.
Two bedrooms will start at CHF 1500
Check it on http://www.immoscout24.ch/IS24Web/_V2/Home.aspx?nav=0&wl=1&lng=fr
You have to pay attention to location, if it has garage or bills included or furniture.
You welcome :)

Thanks Marc, this web is good.
Someone know why the price in Geneva is significant more expensive than other places?
I understand that Geneva haven't metro (underground) or any special infraestructure that demands big taxes.
Bye

Building restrictions. To keep the place clean and prevent overcrowding. In theory.
Then the rents skyrocket due to low availability, so they imposed rent control (fixation du loyer). Without high prices to push down demand, you end up with the 0.1% vacancy rate that we have today.
... and since rents can't be raised high enough to attract rent-seeking investors (who can't generally build anything new; see above), there's little incentive to add to the rental inventory.
The whole thing is a regulatory deadlock and the Swiss voters apparently want it this way. ಠ_ಠ
