NEW IN GENEVA -- WILL BE HERE FROM JULY 23, 2012

Ciao everybody!

My name is Sayan and I am from Russia, from Eastern Siberia, from Buryatia, the great region of Baikal Lake. I will be here since July 23 as UN intern and stay here around 3 months, maybe more. It depends on my financial situation, as UN internships are usually not paid. :(

I would really love for hiking in Swiss Mountains. I did it once, even twice, in Santis, near to St. Gallen and in Flumserberg.

Anyways, it would be really to meet. and the other thing - I am very new here on this forum, so I am very much in desperate need for housing! As I've heard from many people, it's number one challenge in Geneva. Still please, give me all possible advices, on housing search in Geneva. Especially is it really possible to find something which is around 300-400 CHF per month? I don't need studio apt at all. I don't really want seem to be a beggar, but my financial situation does not really allow me to take something more expensive than this..

(OK, I am ready for your critics about -- "what did you want, it's extremely expensive city,etc" --- I already heard a lot of this) =)

Bro,Not sure you will find for that much/month,wish had a big flat myself to get you in even till you find something but i dont.I can give you some sites to look if you like.Else get a tent and if you dont find go and park it inside the UN building :):)Dont they help at all in terms of your accomodation ffs???pffff

I will try to find something for 3-4 days to stay first days, but later will be the challenge to find something affordable.

UN usually does not care at all about interns.

Didnt have the links in my pocket :p its been 2,5 months back i was looking for an aprtmt.Also the range i was checking was not the same.Just becareful of scammers.You arange to view it first and do not send any money prior you get the keys.

The only my question was, maybe I didn't formulate it in a proper way, how much could cost the cheapest option in Geneva and surroundings.

Actually French side I must say doesn't differ so much, almost the same. So I found an offer for 600 CHF for room in a shared flat.

but generally don't really find this glocals.ch helpful

It's very unlikely that you will find something cheaper. It's common here to pay 800-1000 for one room.

No way can you find a place for 300 CHF a month - seriously its very very unlikely - you could buy a tent and sleeping abg and sleep rough somewhere...but sorry not at that amount

maybae some kind of backpacker dorm accomodation is possible
