New in swiss living near lausanne

Hi!

My name is Valentijn and I'm from the Netherlands.

I arrived in Orbe (30 min from lausanne) 3 weeks ago.. there is not much to do here, so I'm looking to meet some people (in lausanne) to hang out with in the weekends.

I like sports, partying and eating so im up for whatever!

And Mari-Liis, where do you live somewhere? Yverdon would be my first guess?

9 minutes by train from Orbe, then perhaps an 8-10 minute walk.

English at the front desk is hit-or-miss.  Do you need to rent equipment?  If not, just hand them a 20 and say "escalade, s'il vous plait"  =)

Swiss gyms don't seem to bother with any kind of registration or certification.  You just give them your money, walk in, and try to not get yourself killed.  No questions asked.  Great country, this is!

You might want a belayer, FYI.

Climbing partner = belayer.

I don't know about Chavornay, but Gecko Escalade offers classes and many of the instructors are fine with English.

Also, you might want join this group here on Glocals.  Periodically they will post events for beginners.

If you're on Facebook, consider this group and this group.  They're both very quiet at the moment -- but when the weather cooperates....
