I will be living in the Lausanne area and traveling all over Europe for work. I hope to spend my weekends in the mountains around the lake. I love to snowboard(anyone up for March 30th?), and to hike around in the wilderness. Looking forward to seeing as much of the alps as possible before my wife needs attention again. :)
Lots of stuff in front of me right now, but i will be arriving on March 28th with 3 dogs, a cat, some clothes, and a brand new snowboard. This is my first time living outside of the US so i will be asking lots of questions.
im looking forward to meeting everyone.

Use the time well before the wife is released back to freedom, which will mean the end of your freedom...:)
Welcome (soon) to Switzerland. If you like outdoor hikes and snow-boarding, you're coming to the exact right place. You might be able to still catch a few days of ski this season (if you move real fast). If you're planning to go on March 30, I suggest you post it in the Member-Activities section. I'm sure you'll get many takers.
Wow, first time outside the states...you're in for a ride! Most folks here on glocals are expats (incl myself), so we've all been there before. And most folks will be nice and friendly and welcoming, as you'll surely see.
The 1 thing I learned about being an expat is this: it's all up to you. Making new friends ain't easy, but staying at home with the wife is very easy. Don't let yourself fall into that trap. Go out (with the snowboard and the dogs, and maybe the wife too), and make the effort to meet new people.
OK, that's it for today's pep-talk. Let us know when you arrive, and have a great time in your new country and city!

Then you're coming to the right place. The biggest macro level tenstion here is - usually - if the ski conditions are good or less good...:)
You will have some personal tension tho most likely in the first few months to get settled down, but I am sure you expect that.
Come on down mate.

I am sure that you will have plenty of free time here in CH, given that IMD MBA students do have to spend a LOT of time in the dungeons...
I live in geneva, so if you feel like going out for drinks there drop me an email.
Cheers,
Dario (IMD MBA 2007)
