New to glocals, but Genevan at heart since 2010!

Hey all!

I am Thomas, a nuclear physicist from CERN. I swear, I am a rare breed of my kind (all those other CERNoids work on things much smaller than what I do). And if you think I am a geek, you are probably right, but I have not yet seen the bulk of it =].

I am also a knitter, proud member of Stitch&Bitch Geneva, which I highly recommend to all those who love the craft (or care to learn it). We are a group of enthousiasts with all skill levels and it is a place where you can learn from some of the very best in Switzerland. We meet casually every Wednesday at 7pm, Starbucks Quai des Bergues, until they throw us out.

Otherwise, I sing in the Piccolo Opera choir. It is a really nice choir under the vocal coaching of the acclaimed soprano Sophie Ellen-Frank and the well-known American-Swiss conductor Paul Hess. They also have dedicated workshops and a year-long school to introduce kids to the art of opera singing. I participated in a production of the Mozart's Magic Flute with the kids which was really impressive. Together with the professionals from La Compagnie Lyrique de Geneve, we re currently preparing Offenbach's La Périchole, a really funky operetta with all the qui pro quos you want! A really nice opportunity to get a good laugh and a night out in Geneva. Check on the Things To Do tab for May 9-12!

Looking forward to discovering lots of interesting people and amazing events through glocals!
