Only just beginning to get my head around this city!

I have been in GVA for around a week now and are starting work at an international organisation next week. Deep in my hunt for a place to live (I get the impression that apartments here are as rare as they are in New York... I remember a Friends episode where they are scouting funerals for new apartments... hopefully that doesn't happen here too!), but would like to see what kind of expat social activities take place as well.
