Geneva has several salsa evenings.
I just speak about Cuban Salsa as i don't have much info about Porta salsa.

You can have salsa evenings on :

Tuesdays : Mambo club (Paquis) from 8pm or Bario Latino.
Wednesdays : Halles de l'ile, from 9pm.
Tuesdays : Mambo Club - Salsa + Bachata
Sundays : Alternatively @ Halles de l'ile, alternatively at Parc des bastions.

Im pretty sure you can also find some salsa evenings on mondays , thursdays or fridays but someone else  than me must inform you about that ... :)

Thursdays, I suggest Mad. They had a down-period after the move, but now it's become quite good, pertially due to the entrance being free.

On Wednesdays, there's also Brasseur des Grottes, and Salseros de Hoy.

by the way what about Bachata lecons ?? was looking for it in Gva but found nothing..

salsageneva.net have a weekend of beginner's bachata 24-25 May

There aren't many bachata courses, because it's quite easy, and you don't need to do many figures. When I teach someone salsa, I usually statrt with bachata first, beacause it's the easiest, and it's a good way of getting into the latino rythms,
