Depending on your level. For beginners there are many choices, for more advanced fewer but I can make some recommendations.

Yes... and the instructors will hit you every time you do something wrong!
Seriously... you will never know before you try.

Amber,
yes, you should definitely give it a try. It's not hard to learn, but it helps if you have a good leading partner. And naturally, the more you practise:
a) the more fun you'll have
b) the better you get at it

Dear Amber,
Thank you for pointing out the flaws in my previous message. I can see now that what I wrote could be interpreted as sarcasm. You could not be further from the truth. I don't support sarcasm and I believe that people who are using it should be stoned to death. And any form of humor in general should be avoided as it's completely useless. i thing the Netherlands were right to ban the jokes like they did.

I support my friend Claudio :-) ... You can at the beginn, participate workshops. But it should not be a never-ending-story. Cause workshops are commercial and if you do not have the right good dance partner, is just wasting time and money.... I learned salsa 12 years ago. Now I am almost a profi. I used to take classes a few months only at the beginn, but what I mostly learned was at the partys I joined - the salsa parties are the best school for any dancer willing to learn ! Participate regulary salsa parties even as a beginner, and you will notice soon, how fast you are improving. Do not be shy to dance even if you just muake the basics - this is the way you will make a fast progress !
Of course the most important ist to have a feeling for dancing and have the rhythm in your blood :-) ... otherwise is not working :-O
Quando el cuerpo baila, la mente no piensa :-P !!
Enjoy !
