Firstly, welcome to Switzerland/France/wherever you may actually be located...as you've probably realised, it can seem a little 'sleepy' compared to other cities/countries, but alas, don't fear, there ARE goings on! You'll not struggle to find others in a similar situation, or just generally cool people here, and Glocals is undoubtedly one of (if not THE) best way of sniffing these people out (actual sniffing optional).

I'm living in a small village too at the moment, but still working in Geneva, howeve I haven't yet done my RTW trip...which is of course next on my list of things to do! In which case, you could be a fountain of knowledge and advice on places to avoid like the plague, and places to not miss!

Don't judge Geneva on the winter...people tend to flock to the mountains for non-working hours!

I'm from near Birmingham in the UK and I've just arrived to live with my boyfriend who works at CERN. I finished university in 2009 and then taught in a secondary school for two years. I'm also looking to improve my French through living here, but I agree that it can be daunting moving somewhere new and having to start from scratch- I've made some friends through my boyfriend but I'd definitely like to get out and about and do my own thing. If you'd like to maybe meet up and have a coffee or something then let me know.

Hey Chris, yea im living in a really small town between to gex and ferney voltaire, its nice but even sleepier than geneva! I Like to go out and do things on the weekend but i dont know where to start in geneva! Maybe sometime this week if you want to meet up for coffee, beer whatever works for you.
