I was in Tokyo, some weeks ago, it is the country I am from. I have been in Geneva over 17 years. And I visit Japan once per year. When you get to Geneva and need to know things around here, I would be happy to be helpful. Just don't hesitate to ask me... You will also see many firiendly people on Glocals anyways! :-))) Bizzz Kaz

Yes. But before here, some other countries for some extra years retroactively, mainly in Europe. No matter how late you will get to Geneva, you will see many nice and friendly people, and this site is one good way for that. You will find many nice outing events here.

Christine, sorry I haven't been responsive to "haiku" activity. I am not very good at "haiku". If you have some done in English, send it to me please by personal msg, I will be happy to read it Laughing. Beny, you may like her activity on glocals, "haiku", once you get here and if you like it. I believe you  know "haiku".

All the best! Amicalement.

i m currently checking the IT job market and it seems to be fine in switzerland,

just a question, how you guys feeling during  this economy crisis atmosphere?

is  job hard to found? i have already sent my resume to a couple of consulting companies and it seems that if you are not  in the country it will be difficult to manage for them.Undecided

Hi Beny,

Back in 2008, everything seemed fine.  I had pre-registered with agencies before leaving London, they were all expecting me and I had no difficulty finding a job (speaking French and English) in the corporate environment.

although there is one important thing to mention: it's better not to try to find a job during summer.  Recruiting goes to sleep at the end of June to restart kind of mid-September, unless they are desperate but taking into account that most people take holidays during summer, everyone has to agree on hiring that person, so if on holiday, they would keep you waiting until everyone has returned to make a decision.  The same applies around xmas time, if not sorted before the 3rd week of Dec, then you will have to wait until mid-Jan.

It seems that in the IT field, there will always be work, although the crisis has eventually hit Switzerland, even if the unemployment is lower than some other European countries, a lot of people are Being made redundant so most people are expecting to work much much more so you will have to find a balance.

also, unless your family is based around here, it might be easier to provide a final CV with an address at the border in France although, I know some people who apply and live in Lyon or Paris...

Good luck.
