"new enough" in Lausanne

I've been in Lausanne for about a year, but being a grad student at EPFL means I've been hanging out too much with the little English-speaking island that is my work :)

Outside of research, I do a lot of outdoor stuff. If it involves adrenaline, I probably already do it, or if I don't, I'd be very interested in trying! I enjoy climbing and backcountry skiing here for the past season. I also have a lot of experience is surfing, sailing, windsurfing, and mountain biking; sadly, all of these (except for mtb) either require a lot of equipment or are hard to do in Switzerland (surfing!).

I'm in the process of learning German, so eventually I hope to find someone here to do a "language tandem" with (after I progress beyond the veeeery basic stuff so I can have a rudimentary conversation).
