playing gigs in Swizerland

Hi there!  I am songwriter/performer (banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, dulcimers, and found objects) and I am touring my new album VelA (found sound folk if it could have a label) in Switzerland this December and February.  Can anyone recommend some good hotspots for original music?  A good place to play anything along the lines of acoustic/folk/world/experimental? Or in fact if you are a promoter or events organiser, have a listen, and maybe you might like a performance in your local venue ;-)  www.francescabaines.com

I appreciate any response ;-)  Many thanks and maybe see you in the coming months ;-)

Hi Francesca,

I went to the Scene in Carrouge a couple of weeks ago, it may be worth checking out, it may not be what you are looking for but that is where a lot of amateur musicians hang out and they may be able to point you in the right direction. You can also just get up on stage and play there.

Good luck with it!

Thanks for your response Frank ;-)

I'm looking for paid gigs, as music is my way to make a living.  Are there any particular venues in your area that you can recommend that have a good acoustic scene, and good quality sound?

I can see a bit of a guitar in the photo ;-)  Enjoy your playing ;-)

My flat mate somtimes plays with his band (covers) in the Cheval Blanc in Carrouge. They get paid and fed. It might be worth checking that out. He's in Japan for the next two weeks but when he is back you may want to hook up with him for some tips on the music scene here. As for me my playing is pitiful, but I do enjoy it though, the problem is no one else does!!

Good luck with it!
