I'll be interning at the UN from late October till January.. but I cant find a flat/room!
How does a 22 year old guy go about looking for flats/rooms in geneva once I'm there?? because I cant find any on glocal! even with a budget of 1800chf !

Wow, that is the million dollar question! Ask your UN coordinator to let you into their intranet system. I am with the WHO and we have one. People post internally on that without ever advertising. Contact the intern department. They should have a list of places to check out. I stayed at the John Knox center until I found an extended stay hotel. I'm paying way over what I anticipated (2400/month), but got so tired of looking for a place. I just took this place. Also, check out Homegate.com, and world radio switzerland. They have postings. Do not send anyone a deposit unless you have a credible source in between. Craigslist Geneva seemed really unreliable to me. At any rate, it is possible to find a place, but it may take some time. Hope this helps.

You might also look for a room/flat in neighbouring France. I know that a friend of mine live some time in a "studio" (furnished room with kitchen corner and bathroom) in Archamps - which is a village just behind the swiss/french border.
