(I always get the two confused)
I live in Prague, but teach at City University of Seattle in Switzerland - in Wettingen - once a month, and have started coming around to the idea of living in a country where you can park your car on the street outside your house without having to worry about it being stolen (long story).
The Wednesday night meetups sound good, and I will definitely be checking them out, but my questions to the group, based on a long discerning read of other messages posted here are:
Can Zurich in any way be considered a fun town? (Prague is a fun town - car theft excepted)
and
Are the Swiss really as reserved (read: unfriendly) as everyone seems to imply??
I'll be in Zurich on the evening of May 13, if anyone facies a meetup and chat. . .

Yo Zombie...oops, I meant newbie ;)
I've lived before in Prague in a so called "the best neighbourhood" (Prague 2, Vinohrady).
Prague is certainly a fun town, but I prefer Zurich! Zurich is definitely a fun town and one of the best places to live. Its a small town, but a big city at the same time with a very multi-cultural society (I missed that a bit in Prague). Plus you can get by even if you don't speak German.
The Swiss:
I know people say they are very unfriendly and not so open, but I have a different opinion.
At first, they seem to be reserved, but once they open up, they could be fun as well.
I think its all a question of your approach and attitude...
I have met some very nice and friendly Swiss people. Of course there are people who haven't come out of their shell yet, but I guess these kind of people reside everywhere in the world. (including India, Australia and Czech ;-D )
I live here for 5 years and I must admit; I love it!
You are most welcome to join one of the Wednesday night drinks...and yes, drop me an email when you arrive in Zurich on the 13th!
Cheers
Ehsaan
