Glocals on Iphone

I have a pb with Glocals on the Iphone, it doesnt work well.

And it's impossible to reply to messages which is not convenient at all when you post an activity and members send messages and you can't reply...because you don't have another internet access for any reason.

Am I the only one to have this pb, is there a tip or something to do?

Thanks

On the BB?  The built-in browser.  I tried Opera and the user interface annoyed the hell out of me in less than 60 seconds.  What else is out there?

I have the built-in browser and Vodafone live (even though it's Swisscom) on my BB. I just tested from my android as well and the site really isn't mobile compatible unfortunately.

But I don't have the same error on the blackberry, can you login? That's where I get stuck.

Hi folks

We know the site is not very mobile friendly at the moment, and while there's no plan to launch phone specific aps at the moment, we're working on a light/mobile friendly version and hope to launch it within the next few weeks.

We'd love some input from you - which functions do you think are 'must haves' for the light version?

Thanks

Oded

For me, the most useful would be the ability to view event descriptions in case I need to see a street address.

Mainly these:

- Looking up events pages

- RSVP to events

- Sending and reading messages

These would be great to have "on the road" so one can join an event at the last minute.  Chat and forum posting are just secondary features.

Hello Oded,

that would be great! Most important are all kind of messaging functions. Some text windows work and some do not. Even some Links do not work and some do. All those dynamic Javascript Addon - when not really done well - makes a site difficult to use - sometimes even on a PC.

Dear Oded,

I know everything on Glocals is for free, which is cool and rare these days, but I have to admit that I would be more than happy to download a Glocals iPhone-application and to pay, lets say 5-6 chf for it. (to pay the developer) Would be curious to know how many other members are prepared to pay, and if yes, how much.

Cheers, Lisbeth

Is there any update on the light mobile version? I am so much looking forward to it!

with Safari it's impossible to go for example from page 1 to page 2 in the activities list! For the other linksi have found workarounds, but this object is considered as text :(

thank you for your time and effort you are putting into this!

I guess it would need to be completely redesigned. A friend just had a website built for his business and the webmaster told him that the trend nowadays is to build the mobile version as the core then "stretch" it for the PC version.

Dear All,

How about crowsourcing and crowdfounding. We can support and finance this app. Actually, we must have it it will simplify our life and one of the coolest feature could be the location-based functionality (find nice restaurants, shops etc.. close to you, use the radar to find other glocals members for a drink, etc..)

Being able to upload photos from events etc from a mobile device would be useful - the current upload page seems to use a java applet, which won't work well with a lot of mobile devices (shame as I'm a java developer), there are other ways to do this these days as most serverside languages support multi-part requests for straight file uploads which could maybe be offered as a simpler alternative for devices where the applet just won't work.

Hi Matt.

I'm writing this reply on my phone and it is indeed a pretty painful experience :-(

I'm happy to tell you that we started working on a mobile version for glocals and I just received some first drafts from the designer this morning.

I expect this project to take a few weeks but it's finally happening and I'm very excited about it.

Thanks and have a great week,

Oded
