Are you referring specifically to events that require Rsvp With Approval?
And suggesting that invites you send people be saved as messages in your outbox?

Or is your comment more general regarding all events?

My specific case was related to events that require RSVP with Approval.

I recall there was an e-mail in the user "request to invite",
and after I sent the invite the request text was gone...
So now I cannot recover that e-mail and even the name of the person.

And you are right - may be the process of using Inbox/Sent mail folders 
to automatically store request and reply can be be applied to all events.

But this should be verified - by checking the workflows for other events.
