Re: What should we fix / add / improve on glocals next?

Dear admins and users of Glocals,
SEARCH ENGINES
Why do search engines have access to this, I presume, private site for a nonpublic forum? This access is a very bad thing, in my opinion, as it eliminates the thin layer of privacy one would expect, when one at least has to log in to a site to read content - and it discourages participation in activities.
I especially do not want to see pictures or postings indexed in the search engines. Online face recognition will be available shortly, and we all know, that employers, insurance companies, exes and others are increasingly likely to search for information on people. The notion of privacy is there for good reason, even if one leads a 'normal life', as social norms varies greatly between people, places and time. It is also a potential security issue, if anyone can look up a detailed record of anyone in the search engines for all time.
If in doubt, see what sites like Pipl and Spokeo can do already.
I propose to:
* use the "robots.txt"-method to instruct the currently well-behaved search engines to not index the site beyond a generic front page.
* use other methods to close the door to robots actively creating user profiles and siphoning off user postings and pictures via that route, and to protect the "deep web", that is the, ostensibly, password-protected Glocals user profiles, postings, pictures and video.
* strengthen privacy in general. For example, during profile creation, I find the requirement to use one's full name concerning. Why require that? It only greatly facilitates profiling of people for whatever motive, the profiler may have, even if the last name is currently hidden.
* enhance the controls on who can see what.
In reality, uncontrolled information leakage permanently transfers power from you, real persons, to someone else. Please plug that leak, admins.
Thanks :)
P.S.: I, of course, realize, that noone forces me to be on the internet, but that is not my point.
