At long last, the new site is up, and we know there is still alot of work to be done.
For the first few days/weeks, there will probably be some bugs and performance issues, so we need your patience and help.
I will update this list soon, but for now, here is a list of the things we know are not working yet
1. Chat / Messenger
We disabled the chat for now, so we can focus on making sure the site is stable.
The new and improved chat will be enabled in the next days
2. Photos from Activities
We did not migrate all the photo albums from the old site yet.
This will be done in the next few days
3. City Guide
Right now, we are only showing Guides in the city guide section.
We will add the Business/Service provider reviews in the coming weeks and will migrate all the reviews from the old site
4. Classifieds - Professional Services
We need to update the categories here. This will be done tomorrow.
Thanks and enjoy the site

well done guys!
I hope you don't mind a little criticism about the new site.
It is a little slower navigating around the site as if much more is required to download jumping from screen to screen, but this may be one of the kinks you mentioned that may take a few days to work out.
The old site seemed to be a site more focused on recruiting new membership to enjoy the activities organized and/or participated in by the glocals members with a maybe a little tired format that could have used some dressing up with some new colors and a few adjustments but truly served the purpose of being a social networking site for people in switzerland to meet up and enjoy. The opening screen had a significant percentage of it dedicated to new members that seemed to change frequently throughout the day, and it was easy to navigate to find the groups and activities you wanted.
I think the new site is much more modern, but a design seemingly less devoted to acknlowledging it as a social networking site for swiss peoplefocused on the personal touch of a small business recruiting newly located people in a strange town as well as local to join, but appears to fall into a similar design as a global travel website more fit to attract an audience wanting to visit swiss from another country. This is okay for a travel website, but seems a lot less personally devoted to making tons of friends in your local town or your new town. It feels like it was designed by a corporate web design team causing it to have lost a little of the charm of an operation by a couple of expats operating a social network no matter how large it is.
I still like it and it will probably take a little getting used to and to learn with its new apps and navigation tools available to make more options more accessible. If I had not seen the old site, I would probably feel stronger about the new one as it is a very professionally designed website and very utilitarian.
Congratulations on the new site!!!!

Are you frigging kidding me?

Couple of things. I received a couple of automated e-mails but the hyper-links didn't work.
Also search by name doesn't seem to work.
Else all seems ok, if a little slower than the old site.
Graham.

Hi Graham
Re the links in the mails - this should be fixed today.
Re the name search - it should work ok, maybe the person you are searching for is registered in a different city? Change the city menu to 'All Cities' and search again.
Re the site speed - we're still in testing mode, and will optimize the code and html as soon as we understand where the bottlenecks are.
Thanks for the feedback

When you list the members, and you click in the online link, it shows you the online people, but in the counter of people at the bottom of the page, and the paging, it shows all the members, so you click "next" and "next"... and it shows lots of blank pages as there are no results of online members.

But what I wanted to say was that for once, the admins and I are in 100% agreement. Edit buttons are terrible.
That said, a Preview button would be nice :)

alphabetical order? ...It's much easier to find people that way, rather than having everyone all
jumbled up... Just tried inviting the 30 or so ppl in Montreux - quite a tricky task! :o)

Do you mean the list of friends you see on the right side of the screen, and can invite?

I press on the URL link (green sphere with a chain)
A new little window pops up where I can paste an URL address. Then I press OK; The little window disappear like it should. But nothing is added on my original window. It's blank.

Caus -
Looks like there are 2 ways to add a url:
1. Just write it in the text (example: www.glocals.com)
2. Write the text you want to link, highlight it with your cursor, click on the globe icon, insert the url, click ok - the selected text will be a link (example: this is a link)

@Casuistic: Have you tried typing text normally, marking the bit you want to be the link, then clicking the URL button?
