Well, the four propositions are cool. I'd go for:

"Global people, local flavor", but it lacks the rhyme. Perhaps with something like

"Global actors, local flavors".

Anyway, girls say I'm not good at punchlines... (sob, sob)

but the thought of loosing the GenevaOnline flavor... such a pitty. It's like losing the charm of the small village feel and suddenly WalMart coming to town. (sniff)

I think it sums us up quite well - and I can't get my brain into gear to come up with anything else (sorry mate!)... Will be a real shame to eventually say 'good-bye' to GoL though ...perhaps it'll one day be 'out of sight', but never 'out of mind'! :-) J.

I like Making Switzerland Home, but we have delusions of granduer, and want a tagline that will also allow us to expand into other countries at some point.

Any ideas for a similar concept, which is not limited to Switzerland?

Making the World your Home is just too vague.

To put glocal in context: I seem to remember a slogan as being: Think globally, act locally, but it was related to the idea of taking action locally to help solve global issues. Not quite Gol's arena. Hmm.

By the way, not so many NGOs or companies managed to put it in live. I dont think GOL is an exception. It can be a succes or a failure. It depends of us. What about think globally, live locally.

As obvious as it is that the name might have to change for the site to expand (in ZH, I have heard incessantly that people don't bother joining because they don't see the point of joining a "Geneva" website), I also notice that current, especially long-term members are reluctant to lose the catch abbreviation GOL.

You've put in a lot of effort to find the new name, Glocal, but unless you are dutch or an arabic speaker (or have some experience in the two, or similar throaty languages), saying that word sounds like something swallowed's gone down the wrong pipe!! LOL!!! I wouldn't want someone who just had a sip of their drink try to say they're part of that website, at the same time.

Sooooooo... since GOL has already made it to the papers and is a pretty well-established name, and the only problem is when we talk about what it stands for GenevaOnline non-Geneva people lose interest in signing up... why don't you just add one letter which will make everyone hopefully happy, AND stay pretty much like the new name?

GOLOCAL... then you can still say I'm on GOL ;0)

In which case, I like your slogan number 4. Though you could also then maybe have something like:

GOLOCAL : Where Global people Go Local! ;o) (hidden pun intended)
