Yup, it's done. I shared it through my author page. What a story huh, how does that fit on the other hand with the US soldiers shooting civilians walking around freely..

Thanks Ivet. i found the video on one of the support websites for Mr. Manning. as the site explains Mr. Manning put himself in jeopardy by sharing the video mentioned in the opening post with the world...
''On July 6, 2010, Private Bradley Manning, a 22 year old intelligence analyst with the United States Army in Baghdad, was charged with disclosing this video...''

I think there is a lot of public outrage to how Manning is being treated and I have seen in alternative media good sized protests. Unfortunately these alternative media get drowned out by the garbage we see on the mainstream FCM (fawning corporate media). It is a bit like Chomsky has said (I paraphrase): the truth is out there it's just you have to be almost a fanatic to find it.
This is not about justice but about cruelty willfully inflicted and an attempt to break a human soul and perhaps serve as a warning to other potential whistleblowers. You can have all the laws, constitutions, lawyers and judges but when the state wants to go after you it will and can.
And to end (and offend those pissed off by my quoting/pasting articles of unconvenient truths from Counterpunch, The Bulletin of Atomic Scientist etc.) these words from the article by Reverend William Alberts:
"Private Manning’s patriotism is powerfully expressed by attorney and member of the National Lawyers Guild Chase Madar, who writes,
The records allegedly downloaded by Manning reveal clear instances of war crimes committed by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, widespread torture committed by Iraqi authorities with the full knowledge of the U.S.military, previously unknown estimates of the number of Iraqi civilians killed at U.S. military checkpoints, and the massive Iraqi civilian death toll caused by the American invasions. (“Why Bradley Manning Is a Patriot, Not a Criminal,” TomDispatch.com, Feb. 10, 2011)
Who are “the enemy” Private Manning is charged with “aiding?” The international anti-war women’s group CODEPINK responds to that key question this way:
Who exactly is “the enemy” anyway? The cables that Bradley Manning is accused of leaking have helped spark democratic uprisings across the Arab world. They have brought us the truth about the brutality and atrocities of our continued wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they have given us a critical look at the underpinnings of our own government. They have created transparency beyond any we had before, and allow us as citizens to make more educated decisions. Of all the beneficiaries of the leaked cables, Democracy itself is the greatest. . . .With the leaked video”Collateral Murder,” Bradley put us in the back of a helicopter gunship in Iraq to show us how our wars are really fought. In his own words, he did it because “I want people to see the truth regardless of who they are . . . because without information, you cannot make informed decisions as a public.” Now he is being charged with telling the truth, and it may cost him his life. (“Who’s the enemy?,” Mar. 4, 2011)" http://www.counterpunch.org/alberts03112011.html

don't know how long this will remain accessible at BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/newsnight/9434978.stm
It is not so much the narrative I find interesting as the two videos, one of Manning's friend and one by the 'Judas' who turned Manning in. Also interesting is what some people consider 'secrets' (see bottom of article). As we see from Wikileaks much of what are classified as secrets are in fact just embarrassing truths.

Despite my misgivings of anyone joining the military - I have to credit Manning for finally seeing the truth and have the balls to break it to people.
These people are doing the same

Possibly the best vids on this

Soldiers are also victims and unlike after the second world war nowadays there is no GI bill. The GI bill was the American people and its government's way of thanking the veterans. It allowed them to go to university, buy homes and start families, contributing the the post-WWII emergence of the American middle class.
An unpopular war was fought in Viet Nam in the sixties to early seventies and returning veterans were forgotten by the government. No one spat on the returning veterans - that is a myth. The government spat on them. Since that time median incomes in the US have stagnated and today are at the 70s levels. Minimum wage suffers the same. It took until the first Iraq war before ruling America believed that finally America had recovered from the Viet Nam syndrome (the unwillingness for the population to support foreign wars). Today the middle class is shrinking. Wars are increasing. Is there a link?

Canadians pride themselves in not getting involved in Iraq (we are in Afghanistan) yet we turn deserters away and return them to the US for punishment for having consciences. We are also complicit in the damage inflicted on US soldiers. (See The Deserterr's Tale)
