An unacknowledged hero,
Defender of the human race
Collapsed and died.
He, a magician of the sight,
Restorer of the eye,
Had noticed something wrong -
A deadly invader, likely from the past,
Threatened, attacked again.
He did what one must -
He raised alarm.
And he was forced to eat his words
Mixed up with blood,
Admit that he had lied,
When he had not.
Today he died.
He signed the paper,
He confirmed all that they said,
All that they forced down his throat.
He could not otherwise,
He had a wife and she was pregnant
With their child.
Today they died.
Invader is for real.
He could have saved a thousand lives
Or possibly entire humankind.
