German elections this year

There will be German election in September this year. So, the question is which party should be voted. What do you think?

CDU, CSU and FDP are going to support Madame Merkel, while SPD and Greens would elect Mr. Peer Steinbrück as a new chancellor. However it will become quite difficult to make everybody happy, because the bloody Merkel seems to be rather unpopular in Southern Europe, while the bloody Steinbrück is not really loved in Switzerland. So what should the voters decide?

On the far left there is also the possibility to vote "Die Linke" for all people who are keen on a new socialist experiment following the ideas of Francois Hollande and Pierre Moscovici. Furthermore there emerged a new party called "Alternative für Deutschland (AFD)", which sees itself in a mental alliance with David Cameron and which is strictly against any further bailouts and thus wants to shrink or even dissolve the eurozone. Last but not least there is the Pirate Party, which is however missing a charismatic leader like Beppe Grillo. So, which is the right choice?

P.S.: If "Die Linke" will win the elections this will become the new German anthem again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hahvqItN9yw

And they already agreed with Pierre Moscovici that this will become the new European anthem:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDwZAtE6yWY

Anyway the text of the old one has been too complicated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_nHRMGv0yE

It is further expected that another 10 million highly educated Germans are going to emigrate to Switzerland in this case and my concierge already confirmed me that the majority of the Swiss population will be very happy about this further boost for the Swiss economy! Laughing

P.S.2: In the case of a victory of the left in Europe there are also expected 5 million French, 2 million Spaniards and 15 million new Italian immigrants in Switzerland. According to my calculation the Swiss population would increase from currently 8 million to around 40 million in the following years. Zürich, Basel and Geneva should therfore already plan the skyscrapers in their inner-cities. Cool

Yeah, sure, Switzerland is looking to house 10 miilion Germans. Not very likely, even if they are well educated. I would of course welcome some million French demoiselles and some Italian signoras ;)

I think many Swiss will agree, that Steinbrück would not help relations between Switzerland and Germany. I am no big fan of Merkel, but I don't see many better candidates.

Die Linke still have a communist touch which, besides in Geneva, doesn't have many fans here.

Even though I have some similarities with the Piratenpartei, I don't wan't them to rule a country.

So after all, either a big coalition or CDU/CSU.

Ah, I see you also like the French and Italian girls. You are not the only one! Laughing

Furthermore I admit that my examples (especially the numbers) were a bit exaggerated.

Yes, Merkel has outplaced all her potential intraparty competitors and so there are not many alternatives left in her own party. In my personal opinion it would be good to have a limit of maximum 8 years for staying in office as a chancellor in Germany like in other countries (e.g. presidents in the USA) as well.Otherwise they often tend to become too powerfull and to take wrong decisions as well as it has been the case with Adenauer  (pension reform 1957) and Kohl (too rash introduction of the euro) as well.

And in fact Merkel has nearly already won the next election. In my opinion Steinbrück has no big chance to become chancellor. The more exciting question will probably be which will be the coalition partner of her (FDP, SPD or the Green party). Furthermore it will be interesting if a new party (like Pirates or AFD) can skip the 5%-obstacle and get seats in the parliament, which is a quite difficult task in Germany.

Wish you good luck german, i hope you will have a good future. You must select a party which you believe can handle the infrastructure delicately.
