SWISS NATIONAL DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE PHILIPPINES
18 NOVEMBER 2013, 06:00 AM TO 12 MIDNIGHT
(as of 13 November, 1700H)

The Philippine Embassy in Berne, in cooperation with the Philippine Mission/Consulate General in Geneva, is coordinating with Swiss Solidarity (Glueckskette/Bonheur) and Swiss public radio and TV in organizing the Swiss National Day of Solidarity with the Philippines. This telethon event has been set on Monday, 18 November, from 06:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight and will be held in 4 different locations: Berne, Lugano, Chur and Geneva.

In view thereof, Swiss Solidarity will be needing volunteers to accept calls from donors. The volunteers will have to:

1. Understand and speak German, including Swiss German (for Berne), Italian (for Lugano) and French (for Geneva);
2. Have basic knowledge about Switzerland, particularly a bit of Swiss geography, as they have to take note of the addresses; and
3. Will have to sign up online with Swiss Solidarity and indicate what time they will be available.

UPDATED INFORMATION

Swiss Solidarity informed today, 13 November, that Berne, Lucarno, and Chur telethons have enough volunteers already to take phone calls. However, people may still volunteer to man the phones in the Geneva telethon.

For those who wish to volunteer in the Geneva/French-speaking area, you may directly register with Swiss Solidarity through its websitewww.swiss-solidarity.org. Alternatively, you may email them at [email protected] or call at 022 322 1530.

For those who wish to do some volunteer work in the other cities where the telethons are going to be held, you may also directly register with Swiss Solidarity through its website.

For the German-speaking part (Bern in particular still needs volunteers for other tasks), prospective volunteers may also email [email protected] or call 031 398 4111. For the Italian-speaking part: [email protected] or 091 803 9558.
