20-Something Drinks
Hello everyone,

So thanks all for coming out! It was my first time organizing an event and I think it went pretty well, hope you enjoyed. I think this 20-Something events could become a tradition so I think I'll keep doing more and I think I've learned couple things today though.

First of all, although the venue was great and I love that place, I think I'll try to look for a place that is a bit less crowded.

Second of all, I had over 90 people RSVPs for the event. I said yes to almost everyone to see how it works out. The way it worked out was me running around like a chicken with my head cut off asking random people if they are here for the event. Comical and tiering to say the least. So I think next time I will limit the invite list about 30-35 people. I think that will be a good number.

Third of all, as you may have noticed, it was about 80% men, 20% women, which I personally find hilarious compared to the numbers I'd see in Chicago. So next time I'll try to balance out the male to female ratio, not to make this a dating event or anything, it's just that it creates a better balanace. I know that guys are not crazy about hanging out with bunch of other guys in a wine bar. So next time women will get priority.

That's all. Let me know what you think. I'll try to get another one going about 2 weeks from now.

Have a good one,
Liana~

90+ RSVPs for a drinks evening is a great result and it certainly shows there is demand for 20-Something events. Glad to hear it was a success and I hope it becomes a regular feature in the Glocals calendar!

I can understand if the attendance was about 80% men and only 20% women. Sometimes it seems like if the organiser is female then most of the people who show up are men, and vice versa. Last season I arranged several days of beginner ski lessons that were open to all Glocal members and were well advertised on this site, but attendance was almost 100% female. It was ok as those events were only small-scale, but I agree that a more even gender balance is an advantage.

Thanks Liana for making the event happen and please let us know when the next one is!
Best wishes, Phil.
